Updated by on Tue, 06/11/2024 - 12:54

The NC-SARA Board is now accepting nominations from the public for three new board members to begin three-year terms in January 2025, with possible re-election to an additional three-year term. Nominations are open from June 10, 2024 – July 10, 2024. Nominees will be reviewed by the NC-SARA Board Governance and Nominations Committee, which will then make recommendations for consideration and a vote by the board at its October 2024 meeting.

About the NC-SARA Board

To ensure the perspectives of all stakeholder groups are represented while keeping the NC-SARA Board small enough to be workable and effective, the board includes the presidents of the four regional compacts, as well as leaders from states, institutions, accreditors, and other higher education organizations and associations. With the exception of the four regional compact leaders, there are no specific roles on the board for individual stakeholder groups.

The board has several committees to help to facilitate its activities and governance:

  • Executive Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Strategy Committee
  • Consumer Protection & Policy Committee
  • Governance & Nominations Committee

Board Members’ General Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and attend two 2-day in-person board meetings (spring and fall).
  • Prepare for and attend virtual board meetings (winter and summer; and as needed).
  • Serve on one or more of the board’s committees. Committee meetings vary in frequency.  However, on average one can expect to meet approximately every other month for two hours.
